Wilfred Cadelina, a Charge Nurse on Ward 35 at RSH, represented SaTH at a remembrance event to mark the second anniversary of when the World Health Organisation declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
The NHS Charities Together service at the National Memorial Arboretum reflected upon the incredible sacrifices of health and care staff as well as the impact of the pandemic for everyone.
The live-broadcasted event was very personal to Wilfred as he himself was in ITU for a week and in hospital for a month with COVID-19 near the start of the pandemic. Wilfred, who said that the service was amazing and heartwarming, also laid a blue heart wreath as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance. He represented SaTH which was only one of a handful of Trusts to attend the service. NHS staff representing the nations and all areas of healthcare shared personal readings and testimonies. There was also a moving performance from Birmingham Women and Children’s Hospital Choir.
Thank you to Wilfred for attending on SaTH’s behalf.
