Congratulations to Ian Roth for completing the Ride London cycling event on 29 May.
Ian, a SaTH employee who works in medical illustration, completed the London-Essex 100-mile event in under six hours and raised over £600 for SaTH Charity’s Ophthalmology campaign.
The iconic 100-mile distance is the longest challenge ride in the RideLondon programme with participants setting off from Victoria Embankment in central London, heading out to Essex, then travelling through towns and villages before returning to London to the finishing line in Tower bridge.
Ian said: “The ride went well, there was some rain at the 65-70 mile point but it didn’t last for too long and I soon dried off. I finished just before 2pm so Icompleted the 100 miles in five hours 57 minutes which, bearing in mind there were quite a few hold-ups along the way for various reasons, wasn’t too bad.”
There is still time to sponsor Ian on his Just Giving page: Ian Roth is fundraising for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust Charity (justgiving.com)
SaTH Charity and the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust Ophthalmology Department is raising money to significantly increase our ability to detect sight threatening eye conditions and hence prevent blindness.
