It’s OK to Ask

It’s OK to Ask is here as a reminder that your voice matters in your healthcare.

When you understand what is going on with your health, you can make better decisions around care and treatment.

You can do this by asking questions.

Asking the right questions

Every question you ask helps you to understand more about your health and makes sure you and your healthcare professional make better decisions together.

To help you get the most out of your discussions with your healthcare professional, these four questions may help.

Healthcare staff will be happy to answer these and any other questions you may have.

Remember, you can always ask staff to explain things differently, explain things again or to write down information for you.

Be prepared for next time you visit the hospital

Be ready for next time you visit the hospital by downloading the It’s OK to Ask patient information leaflet.

The leaflet outlines questions you may want to ask when you are in our hospitals. It also includes a blank space on the back so that you can make notes.
