SaTH Charity, the official charity of The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), is calling on schools and businesses to take part in Christmas Jumper Day (Friday 13 December) to bring festive cheer to patients in hospital.
Everyone in the community – including staff, patients and visitors at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) and the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford – is encouraged to flaunt their favourite Christmas jumper or pair of jolly socks on and donate to a good cause.
All donations will help the hospital Charity to provide presents for patients and staff to share on Christmas Day.

Julia Clarke, the Trust’s Executive lead for SaTH Charity, said: “Over the festive period thousands of patients will visit our hospitals. From elderly patients with few or no family members, to children receiving gruelling radiotherapy treatments.
”The ‘season to be jolly’ will be business as usual at our hospitals so please help us to help them raise a smile.”
Karen Breese, Dementia Nurse Specialist, at SaTH, said: “I love wearing my Christmas jumper, and I think that it’s a wonderful idea that staff across our hospitals, and hopefully local schools and businesses, will wear their Christmas jumpers on Friday 13 December to help raise money people in hospital.
“Christmas is a time for family, but what if a member of your family is spending it in hospital? At SaTH we want to help make this Christmas extra special.”
Moments of magic happen every single day at PRH and RSH – whether it be a life-saving operation or the sound of patients giggling as they’re entertained in their hospital bed.
Andrew James, who runs SaTH Charity, said: “Getting involved in SaTH Christmas Jumper Day is simple and the easiest way to do more for our patients and families this Christmas.
“Just pull on your brightest, wackiest or most ho-ho-ho-horrendous novelty pullover – either on your own or with family, friends or colleagues – and donate whatever you can afford.”
Everyone at SaTH is really looking forward to seeing as many local school children or local businesses wearing their Christmas jumpers on Friday 13 December so don’t forget to share your Christmas Jumper pictures with us on Facebook or Tweet us @sathNHS using the hashtag #SaTHChristmasJumperDay
