We will be opening a temporary drop off area for patients and visitors at the front of the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital off the main roundabout onto the site on Thursday 3 April. The area is to temporarily replace parking and drop-off facilities outside the Copthorne building and will be for patients and visitors accessing services including:
- Ophthalmology/Eye department and Urgent Eye Clinic
- Ward 35 (Renal)
- Children’s Outpatients
- Supported Discharge (Ward 18)
The nearest parking pay machine for this car park is in car park 0. You can also pay for your parking online or via an app for both our hospitals here.
The road leading to the Copthorne building will also close to traffic on Thursday 3 April to allow our contractors, Integrated Health Projects (IHP), to undertake drainage and associated infrastructure works. We expect the road will be shut for the next few months whilst this takes place, however it may need to be closed for the duration of the construction due to the complexity of the works taking place in this area. We will keep our patients updated on this.
A map of these changes can be seen below. You can enlarge the map by clicking here.
Pedestrian access will be in place so staff, patients and visitors, can continue to access services in this area which will be open as normal. If you are walking near this area, please stay to footpaths and be mindful of oncoming traffic.
If you are visiting Royal Shrewsbury Hospital soon, please follow the signage on site and continue to check our website before attending, to help you find which entrance and car parking facilities are best for you: https://www.sath.nhs.uk/patients-visitors/getting-to-us/royal-shrewsbury-hospital/
