Experts from across the UK will gather in Telford this week for a conference which is being hosted by the Trust that runs Shropshire’s acute hospitals.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) has been chosen to host the annual meeting of the Midland Thoracic Society.
The meeting brings together respiratory physicians, trainees and specialist nurses from across the West Midlands. The event, which will take place at Telford Hotel and Golf Resort on Friday, will include speakers from across the UK who will deliver talks on managing respiratory conditions.
Dr Nawaid Ahmad, Consultant Respiratory Physician at SaTH, which runs the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, said: “We feel very lucky to have the meeting at Telford this year.
“We have speakers from big centres like Papworth, University College London, Brimingham and Leicester, who will be providing us with the recent trends in management of respiratory conditions. It will be a day of gaining and spreading knowledge.
“As a Trust we are proud to have this opportunity of hosting this important event. This goes to show the commitment we have towards improving the quality of patient care here at SaTH.”
The Respiratory Team at SaTH deals with a range of conditions relating to the airways and lungs, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, bronchiectasis, sleep apnoea, lung cancer and Cystic Fibrosis.
The team offers specialist clinics for sleep, lung cancer and asthma and Consultant-led outreach respiratory clinics in Newtown, Telford, Bridgnorth and Whitchurch.
