The numbers of flu cases within our communities are increasing, and we are starting to see a rise in cases within our hospitals.

Please can we ask patients, visitors and colleagues to wear face masks at all times in the following areas:

  • Emergency Department (all areas including fit to sit)
  • Same Day Emergency Care, Acute Medical Unit, Acute Medical Assessment area
  • Surgical Assessment Unit
  • Children’s Assessment Unit & Ward 19
  • Ward 24 and Ward 17 Respiratory
  • Ward 23 Oncology/Haematology, Chemo Day Centre, Lingen Davies, Haematology clinics and Paediatric Oncology/Haematology
  • Ward 35 Nephrology
  • Areas with COVID-19/Flu/RSV outbreaks

Face masks will be provided in these areas, please ask a member of staff if you need one. If you feel you are exempt, please discuss this with a member of staff.

We will continue to regularly review the use of face masks in our hospitals.

How can you help the NHS and your loved ones this winter

  • Get vaccinated: It is not too late to get your winter vaccinations, including flu and COVID-19, to protect yourself and your loved ones. To find out if you are eligible for free winter vaccinations visit www.nhs.uk
  • Please don’t visit our hospitals if you are suffering from any infection such as a cold, flu, sore throat, diarrhoea, vomiting or a chest infection. If you have been in contact with an infectious illness, such as chicken pox, do not visit – telephone and ask for advice from the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
  • If you are feeling unwell, but have a hospital appointment, please contact the relevant Department for advice on whether to attend or to postpone your appointment.

For more information on how to keep yourself, and your loved ones, safe when visiting our hospitals see our Visiting Patients page.

Thank you for your support this Winter.
