The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) was shortlisted for three awards at this year’s Sustainable Health and Care awards ceremony.
The Sustainable and Health and Care awards celebrate sustainable development work across the NHS, social care and the public sector, while providing the opportunity for organisations to showcase their projects.
The Trust was shortlisted in the Waste and Resources and Sustainable Excellence categories, while Julia Clarke, Director of Corporate Governance, was a finalist in the Sustainable Healthcare Leader of the Year award.
Tony Holt, Corporate Governance Manager, said: “It is a fantastic achievement to be shortlisted for three awards. Patient and staff wellbeing is at the heart of what we do and our green spaces are enjoyed by everyone.”
On being shortlisted as Sustainable Healthcare Leader of the Year, Julia Clarke said: “It was a huge honour to be shortlisted as a finalist but the success we have had in delivering a vibrant programme of sustainable projects is down to the relentless passion and dedication of the team here at SaTH.”
Julia has worked at the Trust – in its various forms – for 33 years and during that time she has been committed to establishing sustainable development throughout the organisation.
Tony added: “Julia is always keen to hear ideas from staff and is incredibly supportive.
“She has played a key role in all of our projects, whether it be the installation of secure cycle shelters, the replacement of canteen lighting to energy efficient LEDs or helping to increase our volunteer numbers from 80 to over 900.
“Julia never shies away from a challenge and always supports people trying to do things differently if there is an opportunity to improve.”
The awards took place before Christmas at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
