Patients who spent Christmas Day on the Stroke Ward at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford were given presents, thanks to a successful Christmas Fair that raised £650.
The money was raised through the selling of raffle tickets and some of the proceeds were spent buying the presents while the rest of the money will be spent on purchasing new equipment for the unit.
The fair took place on the Stoke Unit in mid-December and was generously supported by local businesses, which provided raffle presents, as well as staff, patients and their family and friends.
Ann Allsop, Ward Manager on the Stoke Unit at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, which runs PRH, said: “The Christmas Fair was a lovely event and incredibly well supported.
“We are very thankful to all the businesses that supported the event, including Wilkinson’s who bought us a Christmas tree. The money raised was spent on making Christmas Day that bit more special for patients spending the holiday in hospital.
“The remaining money will be spent on items such as chairs, equipment to support meal times and a new commode.”
