The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust held a celebration to mark the contribution of their members of staff who have completed 25, 40 and even an incredible 50 years of service.
Over forty members of staff with more than 1,660 years’ experience between them, who work at both Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) and Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) gathered with members of the hospitals’ executive team to celebrate their long service achievements.
Sylvia Foster, an Ultrasound Manager, was presented with her 50-year award.
Jo Williams, Chief Executive, presented Sylvia with her award. She said: “It is amazing to take part in this celebration – to dedicate your entire career to the NHS is an outstanding feat, and we are grateful for your contributions.”
Rebecca Race received her 25-year award. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1988 before going to university to study medicine and graduating from Southampton University in 1996. She is the Emergency Consultant and Clinical Director for Emergency Care.
She also takes an active role in education, as a Trust Junior Clinical Fellow Lead and Pan Year Foundation Training Programme Director.
Rebecca said: “I find it hard to believe that I have worked in the NHS for over 25 years. The changes in the NHS and progress in medicine that I have experienced in that time have been astounding. I’m proud to be part of this NHS family.”
Another celebrated staff member, Andrea Ellis, started in 1999 as a student medical technical officer in cardiology and has completed 25 years within the cardiorespiratory department. During that time, she has achieved Society for Cardiological Science accreditation, British Society of Echocardiography Adult Accreditation and is registered with the Academy for Healthcare Science.
She said: “It was wonderful to share an afternoon with inspiring and excellent work colleagues, as we each celebrated 25, 40 and 50 years of service to the NHS.”
