We remain temporarily closed to admissions for maternity, neonates and children’s services, and would encourage women and families that need urgent maternity advice to contact our maternity triage team first, rather than neighbouring hospitals, so we can help you get to the right place for their needs.
We sincerely apologise for the impact this is having on women and their families and are grateful for their continued support. We would also like to thank SaTH colleagues, partners and, staff in neighbouring hospitals for their continued care and dedication during these challenging circumstances.
Specialist teams are currently working on repairing the generator that is affecting an area of the Women and Children’s Unit in Telford. Other services at the Princess Royal Hospital, including the Emergency Department remain open. We continue to work closely with our neighbouring hospitals and are grateful for their support.
Advice and support:
- If you are in labour, have symptoms of labour, or you need to speak to someone in maternity services, please ring maternity triage on 01952 565948 for advice. Please do not ring neighbouring hospitals direct, as our maternity triage team can help you get to the right place for your needs.
- If you have an unwell baby or child, please go to the Emergency Department, call 111 or 999 in an emergency. Our Emergency Departments are operating as normal.
- If you have a routine outpatient (day) appointment for maternity, neonates or children’s services please continue to attend, unless you are contacted by the Trust.
Further information:
- An area of the Women and Children’s Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford is experiencing issues with a generator. As a precaution, the Trust is currently closed to admissions from maternity, neonates and children and support is being provided from neighbouring hospitals.
- Contingency plans are in place to minimise any disruption and ensure the safety of service users. Our current inpatients continue to receive appropriate care and support from our teams.
- Other services at the Princess Royal Hospital, including the Emergency Department, remain fully open.
- We are unable to give an exact date when services will be fully restored, however we anticipate this will be within the next few days, subject to the delivery of specialist parts.
Further updates will be added to https://www.sath.nhs.uk/ as more information becomes available.
