A message from Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System:
Have you recently attended an outpatient service (a short appointment not requiring an overnight stay) in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin? If you have, we would like to invite you to an online event to share your experience and views and help us improve services.
The event will take place over MS Teams on Wednesday, 16 November from 18:30 to 20:30. You will have the opportunity to hear from Dr Andy Elves (clinical lead), and the wider Outpatient Transformation Programme Team, about the reasons why we need to improve services, our ideas for making things better, and share your own experiences and views.
Our aim is to improve the experience of patients, carers and families, GPs and staff working in outpatient services by looking at the way people access care, how they manage their condition, and how the services work together and share information.
Now more than ever, we need to make sure our services are as efficient as possible and fit for the future. Covid-19 had a big impact on the amount of planned care the NHS has been able to provide. It is estimated that over 10 million people in England did not come forward for treatment when they might have needed it. Shropshire also has an older and ageing population which is something we celebrate but means we must plan for an increase in demand for certain services.
We have already started to have some very early conversations with local health care professionals and their views and experiences will help inform our next steps. We also held a public session last month to listen to people who have used our services – they suggested we hold this evening event so that even more people could have the opportunity to get involved.
Hearing and listening to the experiences and views of people who have used our services is vital to designing future outpatient care which meets the needs of our population.
