It is so important at our Trust that we gather the views of our patients and their carers so that we can all work together to help improve the care we provide to our communities.
We would like to reflect the direct experience of those we care for here at the Trust and to help in this we are setting up Speciality Patient Experience Groups for patients and carers to offer their valuable insight and perspective on our services.
These groups will work with services across the specialities to represent the voice of our patients. Speciality groups include the areas of medicine, emergency, surgery, women’s health, maternity, and children and young people.
This is a really exciting and valuable opportunity for patients or carers who have accessed services within our Trust during 2021 and 2022 to help shape the way we provide care.
We’d only ask for around three hours a month of your time – the closing date for applications is Thursday 31 March and for more information visit our website www.sath.nhs.uk or email sath.patientexperience@nhs.net
Last week we welcomed Fiona McCarron, our very first Consultant Midwife at SaTH, into her role. A consultant midwife is a role model who champions expert practice, research and education in midwifery and plays a key role in professional and clinical leadership, the development of services and the provision of high quality and personalised care.
The consultant midwife role forms part of wider significant additional recruitment within our Maternity Services. This includes the recruitment of seven new consultant obstetricians, giving us 24/7 resident senior doctor presence on our maternity wards, which makes us one of the only trusts in the country to have this level of staffing.
Here at the Trust we along with the rest of the globe celebrated International Women’s Day yesterday. It is a time to highlight the achievements made by women worldwide.
Women colleagues are a vibrant part of our Trust and yesterday we put the spotlight of two of my colleagues – Emma-Jane Beattie, Emergency Planning Officer, and Jenni Rowlands, Acting Deputy Medical Director.
They both have very different roles at the Trust but it was inspiring to read their stories and find out about the enjoyment they get from their jobs and their words to any women thinking of following in their footsteps.
I would like to thank Emma-Jane and Jenni and all the women working at SaTH for the huge contribution they make to our organisation.
It’s also National Careers Week so it’s the perfect opportunity for us to showcase the wide range of careers we have to offer at SaTH.
You can read about the roles of Emma-Jane and Jenni Rowlands and their advice to women along with the diverse range of careers we have at the Trust by clicking here and also our social media channels.
